Following the flag-off of the National Livestock Transformation Plan (NLTP) in Adamawa state days ago, the state government has inaugurated Agro-Rangers to secure its grazing reserve.
Speaking at the event, the State Commandant of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nuraddeen Abdullahi, said the inauguration became necessary with the support of the NSCDC boss, Abdullahi Mohammed, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture to protect the grazing land across the country.
He explained that the NSCDC will train some of its special squad to serve as rangers to address the perennial farmers-herdsmen crises across the country.
The Permanent Secretary, Security Service of the state’s Government House, Alhaji Ahmadu Baji, while speaking on behalf of the state governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, said security is one of the eleven-point agenda of the state government.
He said the Agro-Rangers squad will help curb the menace of farmers and herders clash in the state.
