The NLC Chairman, Mr Daniel Bissalla, gave the ultimatum during a courtesy visit on Governor Namadi Sambo of Kaduna State.
Bissalla said the ultimatum followed the refusal of the management of the hotel to pay the more than 200 workers their June salary in addition to allegations of fraud in the company.
“We received a letter from the hotel union on the resolution of the entire workers requesting for the redeployment of both the MD and the chief accountant of the hotel due to financial and administrative fraud.
“The congress stepped into the matter and found that all the allegations against the two management staff were true.
“The congress endorsed the resolution of the workers and that of the mother union and gave the MD and the chief accountant 24 hours within which to be redeployed or the congress will picket the hotel,” the labour leader said.
Responding, Sambo said he was aware of the situation and measures were being taken to resolve the problem.
The MD of the hotel, Alhaji Mohammed Haruna, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the crisis was externally induced, noting that the hotel management was not indebted to the workers. “We have yet to pay them June salary which is being worked out, but Ihave already left the hotel and proceeded on leave as directed by the NNDC, the owners of the company,’’ Haruna said.
NAN also observed that the state police command have fortified security around the hotel pending the resolution of the crisis.
