The Lagos Zonal of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) has set up a search and rescue centre to address cases of boat mishap in the state’s waters.
This followed the training of 17 staff on activation, identification and direction of safety ecology towards distressed boats.

Engineer Sarat Lara Braimah, Area Manager of NIWA, Lagos, while addressing the search and rescue officers, expressed appreciation to the Managing Director (MD) of NIWA, Dr George Moghalu, for approving the setting up of the centre barely few weeks after unveiling navigational buoys to enable safe water transportation in Lagos.
Engr Braimah tasked the rescue team to discharge its mandate effectively.
