President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Malam Mukhtar Zubairu Sirajo, has called on the federal government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to resolve their dispute and end the ongoing industrial strike.
He made the appeal while briefing journalists on Monday in Abuja ahead of the forthcoming Citizens Summit for National Integration, Peace and Unity planned by NIPR and partners.

“The Institute is greatly worried over the prolonged ASUU strike, which has affected the academic calendar of our children. There is no gain saying the fact that we can only assure the future of the country by ensuring an assured future for its future leaders,” he said.
Sirajo, while expressing concern about the rising case of insecurity in the country, called on both state and non-state actors to intensify collaborations and redouble efforts at federal, state, and local levels towards ensuring effective protection and security of lives and property in Nigeria.
He stressed that the cause of disunity and insecurity in the country was a lack of trust from the Nigerian citizens for the government and themselves.
He said it was revealed that there was a widening trust deficit at three levels: between government and the citizens, between and among the various ethnic and sociology cultural groups, and generally among the citizens.
Sirajo said the two-day summit billed for next week Tuesday and Wednesday would activate the process of rebuilding a new Nigeria that would work based on raising the new Nigerians that would build the new Nigeria.
