Ningi VVF centre treats over 400 patients

Ningi VVF centre treats over 400 patients

The National Obstetrics Fistula Centre in Ningi, Bauch State, has carried out corrective surgeries on over 400 patients within the last two years.

Medical Director of the Centre, Dr.Umar Nasiru Ibrahim ?disclosed this in Ningi when the wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Gimbiya Dogara Yakubu donated medical and other supplies to the centre on Wednesday.

Dr. Ibrahim said the centre which was established two years ago to serve the North Eastern states now cater for patients from almost all parts of the country as well as Nigeria’s neighbours like Niger, Cameroon and Chad.

The speaker’s wife who made her donation to the centre through her NGO, Sun of Hope Foundation, assured that President Muhammadu Buhari’s wife, Aisha Buhari, would soon visit the facility to undertake a comprehensive assessment with a view to improving it.

She said her foundation was established with the objective of assisting women in health care delivery, education and economic empowerment, and appealed to Nigerians and other NGOs to come to the aid of the VVF patients.

Items donated by the speaker’s wife included computers, beds, mattresses, detergents and foodstuffs to the centre and to patients receiving treatment.?
