Nine children excel in Toyota art contest

Nine winners have emerged in the annual Toyota Dream Car Art Contest where 850 children participated, the result released months after the contest shows.

The contest is a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of Toyota Motor Corporation of Japan to develop the innate artistic talent in children and to cultivate an enduring relationship with Toyota.

The 2020 contest was held in Lagos in February with 850 children participating.

The organisers said three winners emerged from each category, with a total of nine winners after the rigorous assessment of entries.

The categories were for children of seven years and under; 8-11 years and 12-15 years.

The General Manager, Corporate Service, Toyota, Mr. Bunmi Onafowokan, at the presentation of prizes to the winners, said all the winning entries were judged based on their originality, creativity (the big idea behind the drawing), environmental friendliness, safety and futuristic concept in their drawings.

He urged the winners to continue to showcase their God-given talent and leverage on them to improve themselves.

The platform will help build the confidence of the budding artists and future leaders in the creative world, he noted.

The event which was held with strict observance of COVID-19 protocols had the winners going home with laptops, other corporate gifts and certificates.
