Globacom has advised Nigerians who are yet to register for the National Identification Number (NIN) to do so at it’s retail outlets across the country.

The telecom company in a statement at the weekend  said it has commenced NIN enrolment for people who are yet to register after it was granted approval licence last week by Nigerian Identity Management Commission (NIMC).

The company explained that its devices which had already been certified by the NIMC have been deployed across its retails outlets nationwide, adding  that arrangements are being concluded for retail outlets that are not live yet for NIN enrolment to also begin soon

On Glo subscribers who have obtained but are yet to link their NIN with their mobile numbers, it advised them to text their NIN to 109 or dial *109# to submit their NIN. Glo added that they can equally call 109 to update their NIN via voice call.

Meanwhile, Globacom made a significant impact on the growth recorded in the telecoms industry in the third quarter of last year.

According to the data published by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Nigeria’s telecommunications industry in the third quarter of 2020, Globacom’s internet subscriber base increased by 33.2% between September, 2019, and September, 2020,

Next was MTN which gained 24.5%, while Airtel recorded 21.4% growth. Conversely, 9mobile recorded loss during the period. It lost 14% of its internet subscribers between September, 2019, and September, 2020.

The NBS report showed that the growth in internet subscribers accounted principally for the 23 % expansion in the telecoms sector of the economy during the period. While in September 2019 the number of internet users in the country  stood at 122,792,291, it moved to 151,063,413 in September 2020 thus recording additional 28,271, 122 subscribers.

The latest addition of more internet subscribers to the Globacom network could be linked to the company’s fast improving data services, a result of continuous massive upgrade of the company’s network across the country.

In addition, the network also offers several attractive and affordable internet packages including Daily Data, Sunday Data, Berekete, 22 x package Glo Bumper Data, and Weekend & Night packages which have a lot of appeal to data users.

Presently Glo offers 7GB goes for only N1500, in addition to N10,000 which gives the subscriber 50GB. There is also Mega Data plans meant for Home Broadband users such as Small Office Home Office (SOHO) and SME customers as well as high end customers.
