Nile University’s VC, Prof. Dilli Dogo, Receives Prestigious Thomas Sankara Pan-African Leadership Prize for Excellence

Prof. Dilli Dogo, the Vice Chancellor of the Nile University of Nigeria, has been recently honored with the prestigious 2024 Thomas Sankara Pan-African Leadership Prize for Excellence. In addition, he has been inducted into the distinguished Membership Hall of Fame, celebrating his outstanding contributions to education and nation-building.

This distinguished award was conferred upon Prof. Dogo by the leadership team of Youth Partnership for Africa’s Development (YOUPAD), led by its President, Nwankwo Henry, during a courtesy visit to Nile University on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.

Prof. Dogo was recognized for his decades of dedicated service to nation-building through the educational sector. His career is marked by unwavering integrity, prudence, human capacity development, an open-door policy, youth empowerment, and devoted service to God, humanity, and the nation.

In addition to this individual accolade, Nile University of Nigeria was awarded the Confederacy Commendation Certificate from YOUPAD. This certificate acknowledges the university’s significant corporate contributions to education and the remarkable achievements recorded over the years.

Upon accepting the award from the Youth Partnership for Africa’s Development (YOUPAD), Vice Chancellor Prof. Dilli Dogo expressed his gratitude for the recognition. He emphasized the crucial role that youth play in the African project, advocating for their active and peaceful engagement with all stakeholders through advocacy and constructive dialogue. Prof. Dogo urged the youth to take a leading role in combating drug abuse and criminality across Africa, envisioning a better, well-developed, and prosperous continent through their dedicated efforts.

The Youth Partnership for Africa’s Development (YOUPAD) is a prominent African-based youth organization dedicated to equipping young people with leadership and entrepreneurship skills. Its mission is to foster a generation of intellectually equipped leaders poised to build the Africa of our collective dreams. The organization operates on two key fronts namely, On-Campus Activities comprising campaigns against drug abuse and other issues plaguing the youth, fostering a healthier and more productive student community, as well as Off-Campus Activities, which involves identifying and honoring individuals who have excelled in their careers. These distinguished professionals are recognized not only for their achievements but also to serve as mentors and role models for the youth, inspiring them to pursue excellence and leadership.
