Nike Arts has opened a new gallery in Abuja. According to Chief Reuben Okundaye, the husband of Chief Nike Okundaye, the Abuja Gallery would be one of the biggest and greatest in the country. He claimed that art had therapeutic benefits, aesthetic value, and is a smart investment.
Speaking to journalists before the official gallery opening, Chief Okundaye mentioned that; “in 2000, we went to Abuja and approached the government to give us land to build a cultural centre for Nike Art Foundation, which they graciously granted and allocated.
“That edifice has been completed, it is a massive art gallery facing the Defence College. I celebrate my wife whenever she achieves something big, because whenever Nike decides to do something, she does it well,” he said.

Mama Nike, as she is fondly called, emphasised that she picked March to launch the gallery since it is the month when women are honoured.
Nike, who emphasised the importance of promoting female artists, claimed that in order to document her society’s conflicting attitudes regarding women, she employs batik artists to create beautifully detailed and striking paintings.
