NYSC saga: Nigerians react to Adeosun’s resignation

Mixed reactions are trailing the news of purported resignation of Mrs Kemi Adeosun as the minister of finance since the information filtered out this afternoon.

Many have taken to the social media to express their opinions about her resignation, though no official memo has yet been released from the presidency to that effect.

While some consider her resignation as the proper step, going by the history of the country where the political appointees usually want to cling to power and remain in office, others are insisting that her resignation was not enough.

Here are some of the reactions:

Aisha Yesufu @AishaYesufu “Good that Kemi Adeosun accused of forgery has resigned as Minister of Finance. Next is prosecution by the relevant authorities. In the meantime, the National Assembly that was said to blackmail her to their advantage and to the detriment of the Nation should be investigated!

Dr. Joe Abah @DrJoeAbah wrote “I have just received, with sadness, news that Kemi Adeosun has resigned. She is a talented, courageous woman who drove a lot of important reforms as Minister of Finance. However, the NYSC saga had made her position untenable & the situation was only going to go from bad to worse.

Faisal  @JajaPhD Kemi Adeosun has resigned but that is not enough. She must be prosecuted for forgery. Then she should be probed to investigate the possible cases of blackmail she may have been party

Don N’Abasi @dedonnse When is the government of integrity going to arrest and prosecute her for forgery? It’s not just enough to resign. Hello Kemi “Forger” Adeosun

Kemi Ariyo @d_problemsolver If truly Kemi Adeosun has resigned, she earns my respect. This is the first time in the history of Nigeria a minister or a leader will take a bold step to write a resignation letter because of forgery allegation.

Osas Cruz @OsasCruz Wawu… Kemi Adeosun has resigned over alleged NYSC certificate forgery.. I didn’t know Nigerians can resign from public office. Resigning is not enough, investigate the matter, is she is found guilty, send her to Prison. Make the others learn.
