Following the increase in the price of petrol by the Federal Government from N160 to N172, Nigerians have taken to social media to express their dissatisfaction with the recent development.
Some of the citizens described the hike in fuel price as punitive and the height of insensitivity of the federal government about the plight of its masses especially in the face of the present hardship occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recall that less than two months ago the fuel price was raised from N145 to N160.
Reacting to this development, a Facebook user, Crystabel Timothy Dibal said “We are dealing with too many increases at a time, and this is introducing so much inflation into our lives.”
Rayyan Bawa Alkaleri said “I felt really bad about the fuel price increase at a time when majority of Nigerians are suffering and yearning for succour from the government. Very disappointed with the government’s decision”
The same reactions are mirrored across other platforms as well.
One Twitter user, Aliyu Abdullahi Gunigi said, “This is clearly an indication that APC Government is insensitive to the plight of Nigerians”
“It is inhumane,” another Twitter user, Fahad Tahir says.
Some others, like Twitter user, Zainab Musa, who wrote in her tweet, “God help us,” have decided to place their hope in God.
