Nigerians on late Yar’adua…

Late Umar Musa Yar’adua was a good man who had no problems with the people and had good plans for the country. He had the interest of the poor at heart. His death is a pain to the nation. I pray that God should guide the nation and give the family of the late president the courage to bear the loss.

Late Umar Musa Yar’adua was a man you could not identify with any fault except that he lacked the health to run the affairs of the nation.  Like many, I am not happy that a man of such good qualities should die so early, though it is the Almighty who gives and takes life.  Nigerians should emulate his good examples and gentleness. May God grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss and rest his soul in perfect peace.

Dr Alhaji Iliya Mai Magani

Yar’adua was a man with good intentions for Nigeria. He had good policies that could bring progress to the nation. He was trustworthy. Let God rest his soul rest in peace and give Nigeria good leaders who will unite the nation; not those whose policies will ruin the nation and tear us apart- leaders whose policies will make life worth living even if you reside under a rock.

Muhammadu Salisu Abdullahi

He was a nice person. His Niger Delta amnesty programme was a good move. I loved him as a president. I felt so bad when I heard of his death, but we all know you come to this world one day and definitely will go back. I believe his time had come and he had to go.

Felix Erumose

Innalillahi wa inna illaihi raji’un. May the almighty forgive him, may he rest in peace and may he find a place in paradise. His death is disturbing to both Muslims and Christains. May God reward him for what he did for this country. It will be difficult to get one like him to do what he intended doing for us. The little he did for the country was a sign of good omen and whatever he did was for the benefit of the nation. May God reward him for the little he did for the country. The late president was not a selfish man and whatever he did, he did it with good intentions.

Sheriff Ahmad

To be honest, his death is really painful. Many people have testified to the fact that he was a nice and generous man. Even though he was sick, he tried to fulfill the seven-point agenda. May God forgive him and accept him and may his illness erase all his sins. We really praise his government because he did well for the people, even though his sickneess drew him backwards from fulfilling what he intended doing.

Umar Ahmed

It was not only really shocking, it was so sad. And as Allah will have it, that was the end of his life. We wish him good hereafter. May Allah forgive him. He had a very good agenda for Nigeria. He was a selfless leader from what we came to learn about how he ran Katsina state while he was governor there and am sure if he was alive today and fit, he would have done a lot for Nigeria, much more than he was able to accomplish.

Hajia Maryam Othman, National Ameerah, FOMWAN

I felt very bad and sad because he was a very humble person and he was somebody who had the future of Nigeria at heart. He was a very honest man. His government was quite slow which of course was due to his ill health, if not, it could have been a very peacefull government because of his humility and honesty. He was a man of peace who wanted peace for Nigeria as a whole.

Hyelni Bulus Zoaka

Oh, it was a great loss not only to the family but the nation and Africa as a whole. He was a humble person, down to earth and straight forward. His government was generally okay but too slow due to his health and maybe, not too competent aides.

Umar Bukar, Lawyer

The late Umar Musa Yar’adua was a God fearing man. He possessed all qualities of a perfect gentleman and was a law abiding citizen of Nigeria. We are supposed to mourn him more than we are doing. One bitter thing is that his health was a national issue but it was concealed from the masses. If it were disclosed, Nigerians would have known that he really suffered. He was a good man and I pray that God should grant his soul eternal rest and his family, the courage to bear the irreparable loss.

Emmanuel Ilomuanya

Late Umar Musa Yar’adua was a good Muslim and a strong believer in the principles of Islam.  His other qualities included love for his nation but his ill health did not allow him to display it satisfactorily. I pray that God should grant the nation peace and give us a leader who will unite the two major religions in the country because we are all the same but need someone to unite us.

Husseini Magaji Commander, Custodian of the Armoury, United Hunters Society of Mararaba

I observed the late leader as a firm administrator who was able to maintain peace when he was in government. What we want is a good leader with conscience who will put our schools in order, provide good roads, water and make fertilizer available to boost agricultural productivity and reduce hunger in the country.

Umar Muhammad Wanzam

Late President Umar Musa Yar’adua was an embodiment of humility, honesty and integrity. He was also focused and steadfast and a man that Nigeria will miss a lot. He had laudable and good ideas to implement to take Nigeria to a greater height.

Mr Al-Mustapha D. Sani, National Chairman, Arewa Youth Agenda

Yar’adua was a very sincere man, a politician who feared God and is also very different from the rest. He acted differently from his PDP colleagues. Imagine, despite the flaws that characterized the election which brought him to power, he accepted that there was serious flaw and he would make amends. How many PDP politicians will accept and make such confessions? He also didn’t struggle for power, it was brought to his door step. That shows he is genuine. Anyone who struggles for power with aggression is not genuine. He was not like that.
