Folarin Falana, better known by his stage name Falz, has called on Nigerians to vote for a new set of rulers in the 2023 general election.
Falz, who was among the protesters, made this call during a peaceful rally to commemorate the 2nd year of the Lekki massacre.
Security operatives had allegedly fired live bullets at civilians on the 20th of October 2020 during the #ENDSARS protest, a rally by Nigerians with the aim to end police brutality.
When he was asked by a reporter during the protest what procedures the entertainer had taken to fight for justice, Falz’s said: “I think it’s import that Nigerian youths focus on the next election, to be able to usher in a new set of people, people serious about justice, people serious about the rule of law, people serious about respecting what the people want, people serious about respecting the human rights of the people, that’s another thing we should focus on.
“But asides from that, we need to clamour for justice and continue to memorialize the one that laid down their lives for us.”
Falz also stated that the protest was a peaceful one, adding that they had no intention to cause any conflict.
The Nigerian artiste, actor, and human rights activist is popular for holding the government accountable.
He is toeing the path of his parents, Femi and Funmi Falana, who are both lawyers and activists.
Femi Falana is well known for fighting oppression by government officials.
