Nigerians need no visa for Ghana trip – Govt

The government of Ghana says all ECOWAS citizens, including Nigerians, will continue to be allowed unrestricted entry into the country in accordance with the ECOWAS protocol on free movement of persons.
President John Mahama in this year’s State of the Nation address announced that with effect from July, all African Union citizens would be allowed to enter Ghana and obtain visa on arrival with the option to stay for 30 days in the country.
But this new policy directive was misconstrued by some Nigerian on-line media, which started peddling the news that beginning from July, Nigerians would have to apply for visa on arrival in Ghana.
The Ghanaian Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hanna Tetteh, who earlier debunked the news on her Facebook wall, restated in a statement yesterday that the new policy which was intended to open Ghana to the rest of the continent, did not affect ECOWAS citizens.
