The Chairman of the FCT Football Association, Alhaji Adam Mouktar Mohammed, has said the recent shambolic performances of the Super Eagles is a new low and must be rejected by all Nigerian football stakeholders.
Last Thursday, the three-time African champions were annihilated 4-0 by Portugal in an international friendly match in Lisbon.
Speaking on the Super Eagles’ performance, Manchester United’s midfielder, Bruno Fernandes, who scored a brace in the friendly match said “Our match against Nigeria was not on the standard we wanted. Their level was not on a world-class required standard.
“So, here in Qatar we will face the world best. We wanted to play a tough national team, but all of them were already occupied. Nigeria was the only one available. They didn’t test us at all.”

In his reaction, the FCT FA Chairman said it is hard to understand how quickly the Super Eagles have become a laughing stock.
He also said it is disturbing that Nigerians are gradually accepting the poor performances of the Super Eagles as a new normal.
Mouktar, therefore, said Nigerian football stakeholders must unanimously rise up against the recent poor performances by the Super Eagles.
“Their performance was abysmal. I am speechless. I really don’t know who to talk to and even what to say. It seems most have accepted our new low.
“Nobody has apologised, explained, resigned or taken responsibility. It is as if nothing has happened. Nigerians must reject this new low. It is unacceptable,” said Mouktar.
