Governor of Sokoto State and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential aspirant, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has alleged that Nigerians are now finding the Buhari administration “very discomforting.”

He said this in Lagos when he met the PDP delegates ahead of the Presidential Primary of the party.

According to him, Nigerians should not take another risk of experimenting with leadership but they should go for somebody with the right mix of experience, capacity, competence to bring Nigeria back from the cliff.

He said this requires the support of men and women of goodwill to save Nigeria from going under.

He said, “The job is a very tasking one, it requires experience because we cannot afford to take the risk of experimenting with leadership within this country again.

“Experimenting leadership not because someone has not become the Head of State but not under a democratic governance. Yes President Muhammadu Buhari was a governor, Minister of Petroleum and Head of State but he was not democratically elected and therefore never ran a democratic governance system. That is why he is strange to the current governance system in Nigeria and Nigeria is finding him very discomforting.”

He advised the party’s delegates not to mortgage the future of their children by voting for the wrong aspirant, saying they should be guided by their conscience as they cast their votes.

Tambuwal, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives said he considers himself as the bridge between the old and the new with the understanding of the issues affecting the country “as complex as they are.”

He said, “This is the Centre of Excellence, you must go for excellence. Check all, and be guided by conscience as you cast your vote on May 28 and  29.

“Check our records as aspirants and know what to do. The task ahead is the task of rebuilding Nigeria and it requires someone at the centre who can midwife that process. I am a pan-Nigerian.

“It is not about where you are from, it is about your person, character, competence, capacity and whether the people can trust you with power. Power in the wrong hands can ruin everything.

“You must therefore put up your thinking caps and think wisely as we put up measures to nominate our party’s flag bearer who can together and collectively with all of us and other leaders of our party, win the election for the PDP.

“I understand issues of this country, have served for 12 years in the House of Representatives and related with the representatives of virtually 360 federal constituencies of this country at different times as a member, minority leader, deputy chief whip and ultimately as speaker of the house of representatives. I have been close with most of the representatives from various tribes of this country. I understand the issues of this country as complex as they are. They (issues) require dexterity, capacity, competence and character. We can and we must make Nigeria work. Nigeria will work again for all of us,” he said.

Lagos PDP Chairman, Mr Philips Aivoji, said, “We know by the grace of God we are going to support you.”
