… Wants FG to extend deadline
Nigerians have called on the federal government to consider the extension of the current two weeks deadline issued by the Minister of Communication for all GSM lines to be linked with the National Identity Number (NIN).
They made the call at the Alausa office of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) where hundreds of Lagosians had turnout in the early hours of the day to register and obtain their NIN.

Speaking to Daily Trust, a business man, Sunday Jegede said: “I brought in my family since 4:30am and this is the second time in a week.
“They have to extend this deadline because clearly, even the Agency are not ready and they are subjecting Nigerians to punishment.
“Considering the time we got here and when we left our homes, they tally number issued to me is number 32.”
Another business man, Kingsley Onwujulugba said: ” I arrived at 5:15am and this 6:30am and I have not been issued a number yet.
“They should decentralized this exercise because people are suffering. At least let all the local government ares have registration point to ease the stress, besides this is a festive season associated with a lot of traveling and you come us with this abrupt deadline.
No provisions for the old and pregnant
“I am an old man and I cannot stand for too long and there are no provisions for even the aged or pregnant women to seat.”
Another Business women, Mrs Oyeniyi Chinyere said she has done her registration in the past but came around to retrieve her number.
