The CEO, NUPAT Technologies, Nnamdi Ugwu has said Nigeria youths are dominating the stage in the global tech markets due to the spread of skills acquisition.
Ugwu stated this during the graduation ceremony of tech talents in Lagos, adding Nigeria is well positioned for the global tech market.
“Nigeria is a go-to- destination in terms of tech talent acquisition, before you go to India, but presently you will also mention Nigeria as a destination for talent as far tech is concerned,” he said.
He described the youths as innovative, saying when equipped with the knowledge and mentorship they will thrive better.
“Our youths are hardworking, they are looking for opportunities to actually excel, so whatever they are well exposed to and given the right guidance and mentorships, they then thrive,” he said.
He hinted at the plans to establish a tech institution that would offer certificates equivalent to tertiary education degrees, describing tech skill acquisition as means to empower the youths.
“We are setting a standard that students will come up into our facilities and acquire the skill and be certified and they see as they have acquired a formal education.
“We are expanding, our goal is to have the largest community of developers or tech talents in Africa and even the world at large, so we are setting communities. We have a community of 10000 tech enthusiasts across various social media and also our channels,” he said.
He added that the firm plans to open 20 tech hubs across the country by 2025 in a bid to reach the underserved community.
“By 2025, we are looking at expanding to more than 20 hubs across the nation. presently , we have our hubs in Southwest, it will be expanding to the South east, South South, North Central. We have been training 1000 talents.”
