Since two of Nigeria’s biggest popstars, Davido and Wizkid began their career about a decade ago, they have kept soaring to greater heights but the higher they climb on the ladder of success, the more they seem to be pitted against each other; mostly by their fans on social media.
The battle of supremacy waxed stronger courtesy of their fans as the year went by; on Twitter, while Davido’s fans tag themselves, Davido FC; Wizkid’s fans label themselves, Wizkid FC.

Every other day these sets of fans tackle themselves on the microblogging social media, Twitter, while oftentimes, their ‘principals’ stay mum over their bickering.
Recently, a video that has since gone viral on the Nigerian Twitter space shows Davido and Wizkid in a heart-warming embrace; and this has sparked a debate on social media especially, Twitter.
In the video, the two singers are seen in a club surrounded by their entourage as embraced tightly and whispered into each other’s ears.
Reacting to the warm embrace by the popstars, some Nigerians took to Twitter to air their opinion.
Popular Nigerian entertainment journalist Motolani Alake via his Twitter account urged the three biggest stars in the country to work together and produce a hit record.
In his tweet via his handle, @onemotolani, he wrote, “Wizkid and Davido = Cool; Burna Boy and Davido = Cool; Wizkid and Davido = Cool. Let’s have those collaborations while y’all are young and prime. Olamide has collaborated with everybody in recent memory.” (sic)
For instance, the Twitter user @Just_Silva__ said, “The Joy in Davido’s face when he hugged Wizkid is very heart-warming.”
Also, @RealDreylo via his Twitter handle stated, “The aggressive hug between Davido and Wizkid was long overdue. It feels like they’ve been waiting to do that for a long time. My day is made.”
