Nigerian troop neutralises several ISWAP fighters in Borno

The Air Task Force of Operation LAFIYA DOLE of the Nigerian military has executed air strikes which neutralised several Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters at Kolloram which is on the fringes of the Lake Chad in Borno State.

In a statement signed by Coordinator, Defence Media Operation, Major General John Enenche, the troop got credible intelligence reports indicating that some of the ISWAP leaders and fighters had converged in the settlement for a meeting.

He noted that the NAF fighter jets and surveillance aircraft were scrambled to attack the location.

Enenche narrated that above the target area, the terrorists were seen moving towards the edges of the settlement, hence the air task force launched an attack which netralised most of them.

He said that the few survivors were taken out in subsequent passes as the jets strafed the area.

Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), had promised to clear all insurgents from Nigeria’s territory soon after launching a renewed offensive in the past weeks.
