Education Minister, Adamu Adamu, has directed the Federal Scholarship Board to urgently process the payment of scholarships to Nigerian students studying in the Russian Federation.
Deputy Director, Information, Ben Bem Goong said in a statement that the minister gave the directive when the Nigerian Ambassador to the Russia Federation and Belarus Professor Steve Ugba paid him a working visit in his office in Abuja.
Adamu said government would improve the wellbeing of all Nigerian students studying abroad.
Nigerian students in Russia have recently staged street protests over non-payment scholarships.
Earlier, the ambassador had told the minister that “our students are doing well in Russia,’ and that the embassy had maintained cordial relation the students.
