Oba Lurge, an independent Nigerian rapper who carved a niche for himself after releasing his 2019 hit single Uncle London, has recently signed a distribution deal with Universal Music Nigeria.

He is currently putting finishing touches to his self acclaimed EP Son Of George, which is to be released in August 2022.

Ep promises guest appearances from legendary Afrobeats singer Iyanya, Crossroadz, Holyfield, Mk, Billiebeats and a host of some of the finest creatives on the continent.

His next single The Return Of Ojua Ojupang, is a Eulogy for his maternal great grand Father Ojua, a musician in the 60’s who hailed from a village called Bashu in Boki Local government area of Cross River State but was nick named Ojua Ojupang (Killer Of A Lion) after killing a lion on his farm.

“I feel a lot like my great grand father and learning about him helped me understand myself better I see a lot of his traits in me, it feels like I’m a reincarnation of him and it feels good to be reborn,” the rapper says.

“I always wondered where the love and drive for music sprang from after making music for over 10 years without making any money off it.”

Prior to now, the rapper has 3 Eps and is currently about releasing the 4th titled Son Of George which is said to be the first hiphop project from his deal with Universal Music Nigeria. He boasts of having over 1000 songs in his catalogue.
