Nigerian athletes begin NJCAA Championships on winning notes

 

Nigerian athletes at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Championships have posted impressive results on Day 1.

Hurdler, Miracle Thompson and discus thrower, Vincent Ugwoke topped the list of best performers.

Thompson sped to a massive Personal Best (PB) of 13.33s to lead the women’s 100m Hurdles qualifying heat into the final, while Ese Awusa also won her heat in 13.54s as the second fastest time.

In the women’s 100m, Success Umukoro continued her fine season form with impressive times of 11.32s in the 100m and 23.29s in the 200m. Ayomide Oyetunji clocked 10.22s in the men’s 100m event, both making the final.

Despite throwing a School Record and PB of 59.37m, Vincent Ugwoke finished fourth in the men’s Discus final.

Nigeria can look forward to having a few medalists as the finals are set for Day 2.
