Nigerian long and triple jumper, Emmanuel Ineh, has been detained and imprisoned in the USA for an alleged rape while an investigation was ongoing.
According to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Department, the former University of Alabama track athlete has been detained and is facing first-degree rape charges as he is suspected of being behind a number of sexual assaults in Tuscaloosa.
“Emmanuel Ineh is charged with Rape 1st Degree after an alleged victim came forward. Police say another victim from years earlier has since come forward, and they believe there may be others.”
It will be noted that Daily Trust had reported in November 2022 that Ineh and four other Nigerian athletes were on the verge of facing a maximum of 20 years imprisonment apiece after being found guilty of internet fraud known as “Yahoo Yahoo.”

The five athletes, along with Ngoni Chadyiwa of Zimbabwe and other co-conspirators known and unknown to the Grand Jury, allegedly conspired to illegally enrich themselves through the conduct and participation in numerous sophisticated financial fraud schemes, according to a press release from the US District Court of Northern Georgia (Atlanta) dated August 25, 2022.
With a potential punishment of 10 years in jail, they were due to be sentenced in February; however, Ineh’s sentencing was postponed at the request of his attorneys.
