#NigeriaDecides: Atiku wins presidential election in Oyo State

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been announced as the winner of the Presidential election held across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State on Saturday.

The Oyo State Chief returning officer of the INEC and Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Sulyman Age Adulkareem announced this on Monday.

Atiku defeated President Muhammadu Buhari of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 18 local government areas.

Atiku scored a total of 366,690 votes while Buhari, who won in 15 local government areas, secured 365,229 votes.

Prof Abdulkareem said that ADC got 40,830, votes while ADP secured 25,384 votes.

The total result of the election was announced around 5.10 pm at the state headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), located at Agodi in Ibadan, the state capital.

PDP was able to win in Kajola, Ibarapa north, Ibarapa east, Itesiwaju, Iwajowa, Ibadan northwest, Olorunsogo, Ona Ara, Afijio, Saki east, Surulere, Ibadan north, Ogo-Oluwa, Akinyele, Orire, Ogbomoso north, Ogbomoso south and Ibadan northeast local government areas.

APC won in Irepo, Egbeda, Oluyole, Saki west, Atisbo, Iseyin, Orelope, Ibarapa central, Ido, Oyo east, Lagelu, Atiba, Oyo west, Ibadan southwest and Ibadan southeast local government areas.

Meanwhile, the three Senatorial districts were shared by two parties with APC winning two to PDP’s one.
