‘Nigeria to woo manufacturing investors at Expo 2020 Dubai’

The Executive Director of the Nigerian-Arabian Gulf Chamber of Commerce (NAGCC), Theodore Bala Maiyaki, has said that Nigeria’s participation in the Expo 2020 Dubai would showcase its manufacturing strength where it would woo investors.

Maiyaki said this on the sidelines of the quarterly press conference by the Nigerian Investment Promotion Council (NIPC) in Abuja on Tuesday.

He said the expo, which will hold for six months, would see attendance from Nigeria’s major manufacturing powerhouses like Dangote and BUA.

“There are so many unprojected manufacturing capacity of goods and services that can be exported to the world but this is not exhibited.

“The expo will be an avenue to discuss with critical stakeholders within the gulf region with the view of ensuring we showcase who are and show proof that Nigeria can be respected and embraced as the most needed and ideal investments in manufacturing destinations.”

He stated that the chamber is collaborating with the Ministry of Trade and Investment and the NIPC to unveil sectors that investors from the Arab Gulf can tap into.

He said the major sectors include power, agriculture, telecommunications, oil and gas, transportation and construction.

He added that Nigeria’s Forum Day is slated for December 4, “On the first day, our key leaders in the country and investment sector will come together to give a general purview of where we are with investment opportunities then we disaggregate it by taking them sectorial to ensure that investors have the opportunities to engage with our sectoral experts.”

Maiyaki also said President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to give a speech on the day as state governments, critical investors in the country have confirmed their presence.
