The Chief Executive Officer, Universal Quest Nigeria at a business luncheon on cashew in Lagos made the projection.
According to him, this is the best time to unlock potentials in cashew production in Nigeria considering the fall in the prices of crude oil.
He said the sector urgently required about N50billion investments in growing, processing, marketing as well as technology to tap into cashew revenue.
He explained that the return on the N50billion investment will generate turnover of N1trillion Naira in 10 years for the country.
Anga said, “My distinguished cashew farmers, traders, processors and all industry stakeholders, the much awaited cashew season is now open, and now, you are at liberty to cash in on the cash in cashew. Cashew will contribute N42 billion to Nigeria’s economy in 2015 and we want every one of you to get your fair share of this cashew wealth.”
Anga who is also the publicity secretary for the National Cashew Association of Nigeria (NCAN) said today 20th February marks the official flags off of the 2015 national cashew season.
