Osun State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola says with passion, commitment and determination to do what is right, Nigeria will rise above the difficulties it is currently facing.

He said this at the weekend during the 26th inaugural Ramadan lecture organized by the Ansar-ud-deen Muslim Society, Abuja branch. The theme of the event was ‘Islamic Perspectives on COVID-19 Pandemic and Vaccination’.

Represented by his Deputy Chief of Staff, Abdullah Adeyanju Binuyo, Oyetola urged Muslims to make use of the holy month of Ramadan to intensify prayers for the continued peace, progress and development of Nigeria.

The governor urged Muslims and other Nigerians to take the COVID-19 vaccine to save lives and livelihood

He said:  “Let me restate here that winning the war against coronavirus is a collective responsibility. We must, as Nigerians, regardless of our religious and political affiliations, unite to fight the virus that is threatening our lives, our economy and all we labour and stand for as a people.

“We must see coronavirus as our common enemy; it poses a threat to our lives and livelihood. We put ourselves, our families and livelihood in jeopardy when we pander to ignorance and play politics with a life-snuffing virus.”

On his part, the chairman of the society, Mohammed Kabir Olayiwola, said the topic was chosen to educate and enlighten the Muslim ummah on the essence of taking the vaccine.
