“In the first one month of the league, the clubs will compete at states levels and the winners will go to the zone to compete. The winners at that level will compete at the national level, which will be towards the end of the year,” Toke said.

He also disclosed that apart from the national league, there are many other scrabble competitions to take place before the end of the year.

“There are about 6 open championships to be staged before the end of the year. We have Abuja Scrabble Open, to be organised by the Abuja Scrabble Association. There are also Kano Scrabble Open, Port Harcourt Scrabble Open, Warri Scrabble Open, Niger Scrabble Open and Kaduna Scrabble Open.

“All these are to keep our scrabble players busy and improve their competitive edge in preparation for the Africa scrabble Championship, which will take place in October in Ghana. We are the defending champions and the federation is doing everything possible to ensure that Nigeria defends the championship successfully.

“We are going to Ghana with our best players to ensure that, the top ten players in Nigeria at the end of September will be selected for the championship,” Toke said.
