The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo yesterday said safety remains the number one priority of the country’s aviation, saying it is non-negotiable.
This is just as he expressed the readiness of the country for the forthcoming Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme (USOAP) of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) next month.
Daily Trust reports that all aviation agencies would participate in the audit, which is expected to assess the level of fulfilment of safety obligations prescribed for member-states by ICAO.
Keyamo who met with the visiting team from ICAO in Abuja, according to a statement by his spokesman, Tunde Moshood said safety is non-negotiable in the industry.

According to the minister, the forthcoming audit was a shared responsibility by all aviation agencies.
He added that the federal government has continued to maintain and reposition the industry for efficiency and sustainable growth.
