The President of the Miners Association of Nigeria (MAN), Alhaji Shehu Sani, has described Nigeria as a mining nation worth exploring, praing the government for its commitment to the sector.
Speaking, Wednesday, during the association’s annual general meeting in Abuja, Sani said that with incentives such as tax holiday, removal of export duty for mining equipment and readiness of indigenous operators to partner with foreign investors, Nigeria was destined for success in the mining sector.
Sani said that the association was repositioning itself to be recognised as link between mining operators, government and its agencies at all levels, players in the organised private sector and international community.
“We have identified the need to search for the windows of opportunities to open up the frontiers of business growth and development for the teeming populace of our members, who are mostly artisanal and small scale miners” he said.
He said that the association was presently working out ways to connect its members to the rest of the world for easy access to bulk ordering of Nigeria mine products and linkage to a pool of potential investors interested in doing business with Nigerian miners.
On the inability of small scale miners to access heavy mining equipment, Sani said a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) had been entered into with a London-based innovative supply chain management company for the supply and maintenance of heavy mining equipment.
