Nigeria losing billions to poor value addition on products – KADCCIMA

The Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (KADCCIMA) has noted with concern the continues loss of billions of naira due to poor value addition on the abundant solid minerals, agricultural products and raw materials the country has been blessed with.

The 1st Deputy president of the chamber, Ishaya Idi while addressing a press conference in preparation for the 44th Kaduna International Trade Fair lamented that focus is placed on instant profits received from exporting raw materials to the detriment of the huge potentials for job creation and gradual achievement of prosperity derivable from industrialization anchored on robust policy on value addition.

He however noted that this trend is forcing Nigeria to lose out in the global market saying, “Recent global business and economic data for manufacturing value added ranks Nigeria 40th out of 153 countries with a paltry 38.32 per cent which underscores the urgent need to put in substantial and sustained efforts in rapidly growing the value addition culture.”

He disclosed that the chamber is hosting the 44th edition of the fair on 4th February, 2023 and to conclude ahead of the general elections expected to start on 25th February 2023.
