The Country Manager RwandAir in Nigeria, Dennis Rwiliriza, has stated that despite the challenges bedeviling Nigeria’s aviation, the country is imbued with lots of potential being the largest aviation market in the continent.
Speaking at the sidelines of the 2023 Aviation Africa, Rwiliriza stated that every airline in the world has been looking to operate to and from Nigeria.
He said with the company operating for the past 10 years, it was able to expand its operations through offering unique services based on the Rwandan Culture.
He also called for the liberalization of the African skies to allow air connectivity.

“The initiative to liberalise African skies is to make it affordable to everybody. When you are looking at flying in Africa and other continents, especially Europe and America, every person can fly but flying in Africa takes someone with some sort of spending power. That is hampering the ability for trade and investment that aviation brings to the table. Rather than countries to be looked at as a source of revenue, It is supposed to be a passage through which trade and investment can be achieved on a continental and national level.”
The Chief Commercial Officer of RwandAir, Andrew Best Owie, said Nigeria is a strategic market and has been very supportive to the airline.
We have received tremendous support and in the midst of the challenges facing the industry, we refused to pull out of the market. We have consistently sold our tickets in Naira, we believe the challenges are temporary.”
