Nigeria doomed without restructuring, says ex-Army General

A former Commander (Special Task Force) Operation Safe Haven in Jos, Plateau State, Maj-Gen. Henry Ayoola (Rtd), has said Nigeria must restructure to survive her present predicament.

Ayoola, who is also the national chairman, Restructure Actualisation Movement (RAM), said this on Friday in Abuja, at a news conference.

According to him, Nigeria is in a critical state, facing existential threats to her union and progress, thus the need to take drastic action to safe the country.

“Everywhere across the country, there are signs of degeneration, collapse and loss of confidence,” Ayoola said.

He said the country is in serious crises of survival and dangling dangerously on the brink of explosion.

“There are suspicious, palpable fear, bitterness and anger everywhere across the entire length and breadth of the country and most stakeholders are resolving that the country is no longer capable of protecting them and their interests, hence are resorting to self-help.

“The moderates are determined that the country must restructure inevitably, and very urgently for it to stand the slimmest chance of surviving this terrifying and perilous time,” he said.

The RAM’s national chairman said the only solution left for the country to avoid total disintegration is restructuring.

“Nigeria as a country, its leadership, its diversity and its governance must all be restructured to prevent the country from imminent doom,” he said.
