The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Ogbonnaya Onu, says Nigeria and the Republic of Cuba will strengthen cooperation in the area of biotechnology development and vaccine production.
He said this in Abuja Monday while receiving the Cuban Ambassador to Nigeria, Clara Polido Escandell, in his office.

Onu said the relationship between both countries would include research in vaccine production, medicine production and development of biotechnological materials.
He added that the collaboration would be a mutually beneficial one.
The minister noted that Cuba had achieved landmark strides in COVID-19 vaccines despite being a small country slammed with international blockade and sanctions.
Earlier, Escandell said her country was achieving remarkable strides and development in producing COVIDS-19 vaccines, especially considering its safety for children’s use and people with allergies.
She said her country was willing to provide expertise and assistance to Nigeria in the development of science and technology.
