The Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), has felicitated with residents of Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States and Nigerians in general on the occasion of the 59th independence Day celebration.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of KEDCO, Dr Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna (Sardaunan Gombe) disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday. He charged Nigerians to use the opportunity to reflect on the needs for peaceful co-existence in the country.
Gwamna said, “ We all must use this occasion of Oct 1st to re-examine our actions toward the growth and development of the country. As Nigerians, our potentials for development lie in our collective strength as a nation with diversity that can be harnessed for greatness.
“Our major challenge is insecurity but as a nation we must rise to the occasion and reach out for peace to ensure that we become our brother’s keepers. Not until Nigerians begin to love one another and prioritise peace in the interest of the nation, we cannot enjoy the gains of democracy.
“ Nations have realised the fact that peace is a collective responsibility which needs the contribution of everyone. We must leverage on our diversity, come together to achieve the gains of sovereignty which is the reason for independence.”
The Kano DisCo boss also charged Nigerians to support government at all levels to ensure an all inclusive growth in all sectors of governance.
