Hundreds of youths in Minna, the Niger State capital, are making ends meet from the sales of street interlocks.
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago reportedly asked interested residents to remove and sell all interlock bricks on the pavements of the streets of Minna.
Daily Trust on Sunday recalls that the immediate past administration spent millions of naira interlocking all the streets and pavements in Minna.
But the current administration is removing them to expand the roads in line with his urban renewal project.
One of the youths, Ismaila Usman, said he was able to remove 1,350 pieces and sold them at N50 each.
Some residents said they sold their own as low as N25 per piece.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Hassan Baba Etsu, confirmed to Daily Trust on Sunday that residents were allowed to remove and use the interlocks to avoid wastage.
