The Niger State Government on Tuesday unveiled plans to install 14,000 new water lines in different parts of the State.

The plan, the government said, was to ensure that residents of Niger State have access to potable water.

The Managing Director, Niger State Water and Sewage Corporation, Engr. Hassan Muhammad Tsadu, disclosed this in Minna, the state capital during the handing over of project documents to contractors and consultants that will handle the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) water projects in the state.

Tsadu said households and businesses would benefit from the 14,000 new water lines, which would also translate into a revenue leap for the state.

“We have targets we have to meet in terms of production, revenue and non-revenue and it would mean huge water supply coverage and improve health outcome, better livelihood, better health and revenue for the state government.

The project, according to the state’s Commissioner for Water Resources and Dam Development, Yusuf Suleiman, is expected to be completed in three months.
