Niger State police command has arrested a 2-man syndicate which specialises in defrauding unsuspecting members of the public in the pretext of securing jobs for them.
The Commissioner of Police Mr Final Yakadi in an interview with journalists in Minna said Elija Olawale, 40 of Engusu compound, Kwara state and Timothy Oyewole, 25, of Ede, Osun state were nabbed on 17th October for duping one Mr. George Elada of National Examination Council (NECO) headquarters, Minna and two other victims of the sum of N1, 500, 000.00.
He said Timothy Oyewole paraded himself as the Head of Human Resource Department, Engineering, of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Kaduna state and promised to offer the victims appointment with the Corporation.
According to him the duo having collected the sum of N350, 000 from Mr Elada, failed to give employment to him as promised.
He said when the employment was not forthcoming, the victim reported the matter to the Command which promptly swung into action and put them under surveillance.
He said the operatives of Security Intelligence Bureau (SIB) trailed the suspects to Akure where they were arrested.
CP Dibal advised the general public to refrain from giving out money to individual with the intention of securing them employment.
He also urged them to desist from disclosing any information that is directly or indirectly related to their bank accounts to unknown persons.
