The Chairman, Katcha Local Government Area of Niger State, Danlamin Abdullahi Saku, has been reportedly beaten to a pulp by party supporters over debt.
Daily Trust gathered that the chairman was currently being admitted at an undisclosed hospital in the state.
A party official in the local government told Daily Trust on condition of anonymity that the chairman was beaten up for his failure to pay back the over a million naira he borrowed for his campaign close to two years after his election.
He said his car was recently seized by his creditors and was released following interventions from some party leaders.

Some sources, however, said he was attacked by hoodlums hired by his creditors for failure to pay back the loan he took to fund his campaigns.
Another source said the chairman instigated the fight when he slapped one of the boys sent to tell him to pay the money.
When contacted, the spokesman of the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, promised to revert with details but was yet to do so as at the time of filing this report.
