Niger intending pilgrims told to take COVID-19 vaccines

The Niger State Pilgrims Welfare Board has directed intending pilgrims from the state that have not taken the COVID-19 vaccine to do so without delay as failure to comply will lead to exclusion from the exercise.

The executive secretary of the board, Alhaji Umar Makun Lapai, stated this at a meeting with the area pilgrims’ welfare officers in Minna, the state capital.

He said the call became necessary in view of the dangers associated with the pandemic. He assured the intending pilgrims of adequate logistics throughout their stay in the holy land.

Lapai also directed the intending pilgrims who had a balance of the Hajj fare to pay without further delay, explaining that the two weeks’ extension elapsed since Saturday.

He said in view of the time constraint, the board had declared the remaining hajj seats open to interested intending pilgrims who could afford to pay to avoid losing the allocations.
