Niger Govt proposes N7.4bn for agric sector in 2023 Budget

Niger State Government has proposed N7,427,708,625.76 billion in the 2023 appropriation to boost agricultural activities in the state.

The State Commissioner for Planning, Zakari Abubakar, made this know while briefing the media in Government House Minna on Thursday after the State Executive Council Meeting.

He said N2,587,708,625.76bn was earmarked for value chain activities, N150m for purchase of 30 percent fertilizer product from Zungeru Fertilizer Company while N100m was earmarked for the purchase of women and youth friendly equipment.

The commissioner revealed that the state government had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the investor in the Zungeru Fertilizer Company in Wushishi Local Government Area to procure 30 per cent of the fertilizer produced by the company and distribute to farmers to encourage other investors to invest in the agricultural value chain in the state.

Under livestock, Abubakar said N1.5bn was proposed for the development of Bobi grazing reserve.
