Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Niger State, Yakubu Garba, has been picked as the running mate of the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Umar Mohammed Bago, Daily Trust reports.
The party said the names of Bago and Garba have been submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as governorship and deputy governorship candidates, respectively.

A statement by the party’s publicity secretary, Musa D. Sarkinkaji, said the party made wide consultations with critical stakeholders before picking the NLC chairman.
He said the decision was in line with the track records of the NLC chairman within the confines of the state civil service.
