Niger government to build trailer parks

Niger State government has promised to construct trailer parks across the state in the ongoing bid to check indiscriminate parking and make the roads safer.

Governor Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello made the pledge during the inauguration of the new executive of the National Union of Roads Transport Workers( NURTW) yesterday in Minna.

The Governor, who was represented by Permanent Secretary Ministry Of Transportation Dr Abdullahi Imam, described the union as one of the most vibrant as it has membership across the states.

He said the trailer park would serve as a resting point for drivers of heavy duty vehicles. He urged members of the union to always be law abiding and be security conscious at all times

The Chairman Nigeria Labour Congress, Niger State Council, Comrade Yakubu Garba, commended the members for conducting the election peacefully.

Comrade Yakubu Garba advised the leadership to carry members along in all its affairs to earn more confidence.

The National President of the Union, Professor Ibikunle Tajudeen Baruwa, said that Niger State Council has contributed immensely to the progress of the union and urged the new executive to maintain it.

He appealed to Federal and Niger state governments to fix the roads in the state as part of efforts to reducing accidents across the state.

The new State Chairman of the union Alhaji Garba Musa Bala assured members of the union of all-inclusive leadership where their inputs would be used to move the association forward.

The Chairman said already a welfare package has been designed  for elderly members of the union.

He assured state government of the union’s cooperation to achieve the desired result.
