Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has signed the N613.9 billion 2024 appropriation bill into law.
The amount signed was N720 million more than the N613.2 presented to the House of Assembly by the governor.
The bill was signed on Wednesday, the same day the budget was passed by the State Assembly.
Signing the appropriation bill, Governor Bago commended the legislators for the quick passage of the bill, assuring that it would be implemented in full.
He directed all the revenue-generating Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to rise to the occasion, warning that he will deal with any agency that “generates and spends” its IGR.

While assuring of a good working relationship, Bago warned that any head of MDAs that refused to avail themselves before the legislature for scrutiny and status inquiry will be fired.
Earlier, the Speaker of Niger State House of Assembly, Abdulmalik Sarkin-Daji, explained that the budget size was increased by N720 million to cater for some critical areas of need for the realization of the ‘New Niger’ agenda.
