Niger State governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, has presented a budget of N1.56 trillion for the 2025 fiscal year to the state’s House of Assembly for consideration and approval.
Tagged the “Budget of Hope, Sustainability, and Food Security,” the governor described the proposal as pivotal for the state’s rapid socio-economic transformation.
He emphasised that the budget is designed to solidify the foundations for sustainable development.
The governor explained that the budget estimate comprises N196,335,361,443 (13 per cent) for recurrent expenditure and N1,362,552,203,915 (87 per cent) for capital expenditure.

He also said the budget aligns with the Economic and Fiscal Update (EFU), Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP), and Budget Policy Statement (BPS) for 2025-2027.
In response, the Speaker of the House, Barrister Sarkindaji, commended the administration’s achievements, particularly in its effective utilisation of resources to improve the living conditions of citizens.
He assured the governor of the Assembly’s commitment to a thorough review and swift passage of the appropriation bill.
