Over 104, 000 retirees, at risk children and vulnerable citizens have been enrolled in the Niger State Contributory Health Insurance (NiCare) to cater for their healthcare needs and improve their livelihood.
The Executive Secretary of the state Contributory Health Agency, Suleiman Abubakar, made this known during the review of Operational Guidelines to Drive the Livelihood Agenda of agency.
He said the enrolment had increased from 78, 000 to 104, 000 since January this year, adding that the Canadian government and other partners had also sponsored the enrolment of additional 10, 000 women of child bearing age and children to be done in the coming weeks.
Abubakar said the review of the operational guidelines would bring in new clauses including sanctions and penalties for mismanagement of the funds disbursed to clinic to ensure accountability.
He said the agency was collaborating with the traditional and religious leaders as well as the media advocacy to enable enrolees know their rights to achieve the purpose of the initiative.
