Land owners in Bonu community near Lambata, Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State and hosts of the power sub-station to be built by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) have been paid N23 million as compensation.

The 123 beneficiaries were handed cheques in various sums for loss of economic trees and farm crops by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Land and Housing, Mallam Muhammadu Danladi Musa, who represented the Commissioner, Alhaji Abdullahi Aliyu Sunday in Bonu where TCN proposed to build 69 MVA 132/33 KVA power sub-station. The nine-hectare land was given by the state government to the company for the proposed project.

The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the Company, Malam Usman Muhammad, disclosed that the station would be capable of generating 96 megawatts of electricity to the state.

The District Head of Gonu, Mallam Ibrahim Baba- Shaba commended the state government for choosing the community as location for the project.
