The residents of Bida in Niger State have raised alarm over indiscriminate dumping of refuse into a drainage close to residential areas.
They are claiming that the amount of refuse dumped into the drainage located along No.45 Kotaworo road, Masaba palace, on a daily basis was alarming and required urgent attention by the authority.
A resident, Muhammed Nma Alihu said: “The refuse is causing heavy pollution to the environment; the air, soil and even the bore holes dug in the area are heavily polluted by the refuse. We are worried because we cannot open our doors and windows due to continuous smoke from the burning refuse dump.”
