The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Niger state, Umar Nasko has picked former member of the state House of Assembly, Mohammed Ndayako, as running mate.
The Director of Communications of the Campaign Organisation of the PDP candidate, Yahaya Mohammed Usman, disclosed this a statement in Minna on Sunday.
“The PDP gubernatorial candidate of Niger state for the 2019 governorship election, Umar Nasko, after due consultation with PDP stakeholders has endorsed the nomination of Barrister Mohammed Ndayako as his running mate in the upcoming governorship race”, he said.
He said both Nasko and Ndayako were both grassroots mobilizers whose combination would tilt the calculation in favour of the opposition party, even as he noted that the opinion poll conducted ahead of 2019 already favoured Nasko against the incumbent Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello.
“As we speak the survey conducted by independent organization showed that Nasko was far ahead of incumbent governor Abubakar Sani Bello with 80% chances than the governor who polled 20%”, he noted.
He said the opinion poll is a signal to the APC led administration to start preparing their handover notes for 2019.
